BII Reveals NITA Supreme Award Winner
The Supreme Award winner in the BII NITA training awards was revealed in front of a packed audience, representing the best of the licensed retail sector, at today’s BII Annual Lunch. The BII NITAs are the national training awards for the licensed retail industry, recognising and rewarding training excellence. Although the winners of the seven award categories were announced earlier this year at the BIIAB National Conference, the winner of the coveted Supreme Award had remained a closely guarded secret until today.
The Supreme Award celebrates the very best entry for the year and is given to the entrant in any category which, in the opinion of the judges, exemplifies excellence and best practice in training.
This year, the award was presented to Enterprise Inns for their WILMA programme. The programme has not just set out to train and educate the delegates, its intent is to inspire them to take the actions required to develop viable, sustainable outlets that Win In A Local Market Area.
Vicky Crossingham, Training and HR Director of St Austell Brewery and Chair of this year’s BII NITA judging panel said “The judging panel and I deliberated long and hard over the Supreme Award and selected our winner for the following reasons. They show great commitment and professionalism, the programme in question has a big impact on the business showing real results and plans to develop further. It combines soft skills with some real practical business advice which is tailored to the individual and shows great innovation.”
Former BII NITA Judging Chair and independent academic expert on the industry, Professor Conrad Lashley commented that “the initiative represents an example of the very best practice and a commitment to improved business performance through training. Fundamentally the program demonstrates a recognition that the skills sets of the company's retailers is key to the success of the business”.
